So, I’ll start with the sad stuff…
Jon left for Japan this past weekend. It was strange because not only have we already been living in separate states this past month, but I’m used to the Navy lifestyle of being apart from him for some time. The day before he left, I spoke to him on the phone and I started crying. As many military spouses will understand, it’s hard to think about your other half being so far away. He is now 6,000+ miles away from me. 14 hours ahead of me. He literally traveled into the future. I miss him so much it’s not even funny. It made me happy that I did get an email from him this morning though. He did let me know that made it there safe. He said he was very tired, so he was going to take a nap. I can’t wait to see him! Sometime soon, we should know when I travel to Japan. Now that he’s finally there, it makes it so real. I get more excited with each day. However, for now, Jon and I will be back to the communication style of email. He gets to start work at his new duty station of Yokosuka, Japan and find us a home. It’s so surreal that within a month or EVEN LESS, the dogs and I will be on our way to our new home of Japan. EEEK!!!
First of all…it was EXHAUSTING. Our first day, we cleaned 4 condos. It consisted of a lot of stairs. Some of them were very gross. Thank goodness I had gloves! The cleaning sprays that they provided were not that great, so Saturday evening, Little Brittany and I got some new supplies which made us even more pumped for the next day. We sat on her living room floor and organized our bags and loaded my car for Sunday morning. Although Saturday was tiring, a good thing that happened was that one of the condo owners actually requested that we clean her place every weekend. It was neat because I was speaking to her and she told me that her husband used to be in the Navy and used to live in Japan also! So we bonded over that.
Sunday, we were loaded down with 1 house, and 5 condos. We did the house first and it was so gross! It literally took us about 2 hours. We were so busy that we didn’t even have time to eat! Even though the work is hard and exhausting, it is fun. I enjoy working with Little Brittany. We may get tired, cranky, and hungry, but we have fun with each other and that’s all that matters.
So as it turns out, that will now be my weekend until I leave. Some hard work with a few dollars in my pocket. At least it’s not a bad view with the houses we clean, they almost all have ocean view!
